Complete dental care under one roof — routine check-ups and cleaning, fillings and root canals, crowns, bridges and implants, braces and aligners, wisdom tooth removal, dentures and smile design — with qualified dentists, single-use instruments and strict sterilisation protocols.
The Dental department at Apollo Clinic Shamnagar handles everything from a six-monthly scaling appointment to full-mouth rehabilitation. Most dental problems begin small and silent — a shadow on an X-ray, slight bleeding while brushing, mild sensitivity to cold — and become expensive only when they are left alone. A large part of what we do is catching them at the stage where treatment is simple.
Every course of treatment starts with a proper examination and, where needed, a digital X-ray or OPG. You will be shown what is wrong, told which teeth need attention now and which can be monitored, and given the treatment options with their costs and trade-offs before anything is started. If a tooth can be saved, we will say so; if it genuinely cannot, we will say that too rather than attempting a treatment unlikely to last.
Being part of a multispeciality clinic matters in dentistry more than patients usually expect. Uncontrolled diabetes slows healing after extractions, blood thinners change how we plan surgery, and severe gum disease is frequently the first visible sign of an undiagnosed metabolic problem. Having medicine, diagnostics and our laboratory in the same building means these are picked up and managed rather than discovered halfway through a procedure.
Our dental services cover the full range of preventive, restorative, surgical and cosmetic treatment a modern clinic-based department can offer:
General & Preventive Dentistry
Root Canal & Restorative
Gum & Periodontal Care
| Implants, Dentures & Replacement
Braces & Orthodontics
Oral Surgery & Extractions
Cosmetic & Paediatric
|
The table below covers what we see most often. If your problem is not listed, please book a consultation — most dental complaints fall into one of these groups even when they do not sound like it.
| Category | Problems Treated |
|---|---|
| Tooth Pain & Decay | Cavities, deep decay, toothache, sensitivity to hot and cold, pain on biting, cracked tooth, exposed nerve, food lodgement between teeth |
| Gum Problems | Bleeding gums, swollen or receding gums, gingivitis, periodontitis, tartar build-up, loose teeth, gum abscess, dark gum pigmentation |
| Infection & Swelling | Dental abscess, facial swelling of dental origin, pus discharge, pericoronitis around wisdom teeth, sinus tract, post-extraction infection |
| Missing Teeth | Single missing tooth, multiple gaps, fully edentulous jaws, failed or loose old bridges, ill-fitting dentures, bite collapse from long-standing gaps |
| Wisdom Teeth | Impacted wisdom teeth, repeated gum swelling at the back, difficulty opening the mouth, decay in adjacent second molars, cheek biting |
| Alignment & Bite | Crowded teeth, gaps and spacing, forwardly placed front teeth, overbite, underbite, crossbite, open bite, midline shift, relapse after earlier braces |
| Appearance | Yellow or stained teeth, tobacco and tea stains, chipped or worn front teeth, uneven tooth shape, gummy smile, discoloured old fillings |
| Children's Dentistry | Milk tooth decay, early childhood caries, thumb sucking, delayed or double rows of teeth, dental trauma, nursing bottle caries, fear of the dentist |
| Jaw & Habits | Jaw joint (TMJ) pain, clicking jaw, night-time grinding (bruxism), clenching, worn-down teeth, morning jaw stiffness, restricted mouth opening |
| Oral Mucosa | Mouth ulcers, white or red patches, oral submucous fibrosis, tobacco-related lesions, dry mouth, burning sensation, persistent bad breath |
| Dental Emergencies | Severe toothache, knocked-out or broken tooth after injury, broken crown or filling, bleeding after extraction, trauma to front teeth |
For treatment that runs over several visits, we work to a planned sequence with a written estimate given before the first appointment:
Root Canal & CrownSaving a badly decayed or infected tooth rather than removing it. Usually one to three sittings, followed by a crown — which is not optional. A root-treated back tooth left without a crown is significantly more likely to fracture, and a fractured one often cannot be saved at all. | Dental Implant ProgrammeA titanium implant placed in the jawbone to replace a missing tooth, restored with a crown once it has integrated. Total time is typically three to six months. Candidacy depends on bone volume, gum health and controlled blood sugar — assessed before, not during, treatment. | |
Braces & Aligner TreatmentCorrection of crowding, spacing and bite problems over roughly 12 to 24 months, with adjustments every four to six weeks. Aligners are more discreet and removable but demand 20–22 hours of daily wear; braces work regardless of discipline. Retainers afterwards are lifelong — teeth relapse without them. | Gum Disease ManagementStaged treatment for periodontitis — deep cleaning, review, and surgery only where pockets persist. Bone already lost does not grow back, so the goal is to halt progression and keep the teeth. Success depends heavily on home care and, in diabetics, on sugar control. | |
Smile DesignPlanned improvement of the front teeth using whitening, reshaping, veneers or crowns depending on what the teeth actually need. We assess the bite and gum line first — a cosmetic result built on an unstable bite or untreated gum disease does not last. | Full-Mouth RehabilitationFor heavily worn, broken or extensively missing teeth — a sequenced plan combining extractions, gum treatment, root canals, crowns, implants or dentures. Planned as one project with a defined order, timeline and cost rather than treated tooth by tooth. | |
Children's Dental ProgrammePreventive care for children — fluoride, sealants, early orthodontic assessment and treatment of milk tooth decay. Decayed milk teeth are worth treating: they hold space for the permanent teeth, and losing them early causes crowding later. | Tobacco-Related Oral ScreeningExamination for white and red patches, restricted mouth opening and submucous fibrosis in users of gutkha, khaini, paan masala and tobacco. Early lesions are treatable and reversible; late ones are not. Biopsy and onward referral arranged where needed. | |
Number of visits, materials and cost vary by case. Your dentist will give you a written treatment plan and estimate after examination and X-rays. Please ask at reception for current package details.
A dental examination alone cannot show what is happening inside a tooth or below the gum line. Imaging and, where relevant, blood tests are available on the same premises:
Dental X-rays use a very low radiation dose and are taken only when clinically necessary. Please tell the dentist if you are pregnant or may be pregnant.
Dentistry involves blood, saliva and shared equipment, so infection control is not a detail — it is the core of a safe dental practice. Our protocols include:
Complete Dentistry in One PlaceCleaning, fillings, root canals, crowns, implants, braces and surgery in a single department — no referral elsewhere halfway through a treatment plan. | On-Site Imaging and LabDental X-rays taken in the clinic, and blood tests available in the same building — so diagnosis and planning happen on the same visit rather than across three. | |
Medically Safe DentistryDiabetes, heart conditions and blood thinners change how dental treatment must be done. With physicians in the same clinic, these are managed properly instead of discovered mid-procedure. | Honest Treatment AdviceYou are told which teeth need treatment now, which can wait and which cannot be saved — along with what each option costs and how long it is likely to last. | |
Strict SterilisationAutoclaved instruments in sealed pouches opened at the chair, and single-use disposables throughout. You are welcome to ask to see the protocol. | Care for Nervous PatientsDental anxiety is common and not something to apologise for. Tell us at booking — procedures are explained step by step and paced to suit you. | |
Treatment for All AgesFrom a child's first check-up and milk tooth fillings to dentures and implants for older patients — paediatric, adult and geriatric dentistry in one department. | Integrated Patient RecordsX-rays, treatment notes and medical history linked to your clinic record, so your full dental history is available at every subsequent visit. | |

Disclaimer: The information on this page is general and is not a substitute for examination by a qualified dentist. Treatment options, duration and outcomes vary between individuals and depend on the condition of the teeth, gums and supporting bone, and on general health. All procedures are carried out after clinical assessment and informed consent.

Every six months for most adults, and more often if you have gum disease, diabetes, a history of frequent decay, or use tobacco. Decay between teeth and early gum disease are painless in their initial stages and visible only on examination and X-ray — which is exactly why routine check-ups catch problems while they are still small and inexpensive to fix.
Yes. Milk teeth hold the space for permanent teeth and guide them into position. Losing one early frequently causes crowding and alignment problems later, on top of the immediate pain and infection risk. Decayed milk teeth should be filled or treated rather than simply left to fall out.
Routine care such as cleaning and simple fillings is safe, and the second trimester is generally the most comfortable time. Elective procedures and non-essential X-rays are usually deferred until after delivery, while urgent infection is treated promptly — an untreated dental infection carries more risk than treating it. Always tell the dentist you are pregnant, including if you only suspect it.
Yes, and you should — diabetes and gum disease worsen each other, so dental care matters more, not less. Blood sugar does need to be reasonably controlled before surgical procedures, as poorly controlled diabetes slows healing and raises infection risk. We check HbA1c where relevant and coordinate with our physicians. Bring your recent reports to the appointment.
